Throughout the month of April learn about life cycles, metamorphosis, and change as you help a caterpillar become a butterfly.

April 7, 2016 - Adoption Day! 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

  • Receive your butterfly larva and adoption packet! Butterfly adoptions are $1 for members and $10.95 for non-members (includes one Museum admission on April 21). April 14, 2016 - Build a Butterfly Bungalow. 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
  • Bring a shoebox, learn about the life cycle of a butterfly, and create a habitat for them to enjoy. From 10 a.m. - noon join local artist John Coleman to learn about how he draws out the animals and shapes in a large scale mural. You'll be able to try your hand at drawing desert animals and landscapes and see John in action as he works on a huge new outdoor mural behind our tortoise habitat.

April 21, 2016 - Butterfly Release! 9 - 10 a.m. & Earth Day Celebration 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
  • Release your butterflies in the morning and then enjoy activities as we celebrate these wonderful winged creatures and planet Earth. from 10 a.m. - noon create your own artistic butterflies in a variety of mediums, and work with artist John Coleman to help inspire the finishing touch on our new mural - some specially placed butterflies!
