Drop-In and Discover Art!
Each month explore a different medium and method to create works of art. Taught by practicing artists, these Drop-In and Discover sessions will teach you how to create fun and unique artworks with your own personal touch. Each workshop is included with admission, but space is limited to 20 people so pre-registration is recommended.

Dynamic Drawing: Saturday, November 12, 2016 • 11:00 a.m.-12 noon and 1:00-2:00 p.m.
In this step-by-step dynamic drawing class, you and your child will learn concrete drawing skills. Using basic shapes, you will learn line drawing, shading, blending, adding details and finally, creating the background. Using pencils and chalks, you will create your own ocean animal cartoon.

Plein-air Painting: Saturday, December 10, 2016 •11:00 a.m.-12 noon and 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Experience the exciting medium of watercolor in the great outdoors! Using CDMOD’s landscape as your inspiration, you and your child will learn how to use this uniquely transparent and spontaneous medium to make a beautiful and interesting painting. With an emphasis on personal creativity, you will be encouraged to express your individuality.

Printmaking:
Saturday, January 14, 2017 • 1:00-2:30 p.m.
Learn all about making multiples in this fun printmaking workshop. From printing plates and presses to brayers and ink, you will learn all about this vibrant art form. You and your child will create amazing monotype prints by simply painting designs into plates and printing directly onto paper. Akua ink, which are easy to clean up and are nontoxic, will be used in this workshop.

Play with Clay: Saturday, February 11, 2017 • 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Smoosh it, squish it, shape it! Create a fun, funky, and functional creation as you play with clay. You’ll learn to work with clay by using a variety of hand-building techniques including coiling, pinching, rolling, and using slip. This session is an introduction to the basic elements of three-dimensional art including form, texture, and space using both additive and subtractive processes.

Mosaic Madness: Saturday, March 4, March 11, March 18, and March 25, 2017 • 2:00-4:00 p.m. each Saturday
Artist Nedra Young has spent four months creating designs for CDMOD’s entryway columns. Each Saturday in March, your child will work from Nedra's design to help tile the columns and learn about mosaics. They will help create a bright, creative, and welcoming entry to the Museum that will be here for years to come! Caregivers bring a book and relax while your child works with Nedra.
