Explorers Camp Descriptions

Explorers: Completed 1st and 2nd grade

June 20-24

9 a.m.- 12 noon

Icky Science • Come and explore all things GROSS! Create chemical reactions and that make all kinds of slimy, gooey blobs that will gross out your family and friends!

1-4 p.m.

Comics, Capes, and Superheroes • Kapow! BAM! Explore the world of comics and graphic storytelling in this exciting camp. Design your own superhero and create their comic book adventure.

June 27-July 1

9 a.m.- 12 noon

Pirates Ahoy!Learn to speak like a pirate and examine the myths and legends surrounding this rare type of sailor. You'll also create a compass to lead you to the buried treasure!

1-4 p.m.

All About Drama • Take your act to the stage! Our campers will be stars as they learn about the art of theatre. They will write a short play, create costumes, rehearse scenes and perform a show at the end of the week!

July 5-July 8*

9 a.m.- 12 noon

Masquerade You can be anything you desire behind a mask! From animal masks to monsters and even each other…campers will create their own mask then parade around the Museum as troupe in disguise.

1-4 p.m.

Dinosaur Digs • Dig up some fun as we learn all about dinosaurs. Campers will explore different types of dinosaurs, learn how to identify fossils, and gain prehistoric knowledge as we play games. It will be a RAWRing good time!

July 11-15

9 a.m.- 12 noon

Art Explosion II • It’s time to get messy! In this camp, you will experiment with materials and learn unusual ways to create art - no matter how messy it gets.

1-4 p.m.

To The Stars5, 4, 3, 2, 1…BLAST OFF! Take a seat in our imaginary rocket ship and tour the planets and outer space. We’ll build a space station, paint a moon landscape, investigate Mars and explore gravity. Friendly aliens may visit!

July 18-22

9 a.m.- 12 noon

Playing Together: Games • From the earliest game known to man to a giant oversized chessboard, campers will play their way through the history of games. Learn the imaginative ways people have played together and end the week by inventing your own game.

1-4 p.m.

Animal ManiaCampers will step into the shoes of a veterinarian and make their very own animal costume. Who knew that “acting like an animal” could be a good thing!

July 25-29

9 a.m.- 12 noon

Seuss on the LooseIf you are very small or very tall, if you are any size at all, come for a week of fun for everyone. Each day we will read, create, and play from a different Dr. Seuss book.

1-4 p.m.

Superhero BugsExamine the science and anatomy of bugs and use this knowledge to create an insect-based superhero of your own! Campers will design a superhero bug costume, learn drawing techniques, and write a comic strip.
