The museum has the following openings:
Director of Programs and Exhibits

Summary of Responsibilities: Planning, implementing and supervising all phases of programs; Manage exhibition activities, including scheduling of traveling exhibit program; Manage personnel within the Programs department

Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
• Master’s Degree in Education, Child Development, Museum Studies or related area
• Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in Museum program administration
• Experience supervising a creative staff and developing and managing innovative programs
• Commitment to providing high quality knowledge of evaluation techniques, and excellent writing and communication skills
• Demonstrated use of good judgment.
• Creativity and flexibility, with sensitivity to working with diverse audiences, and strong interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and holidays.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, bend and safely lift up to 25 lbs.

Desired Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
• Willingness to be certified in First aid and CPR

Terms of Employment:
• Full-time, salary $48,000 – $50,000
• Monday – Friday schedule, some evening and weekend hours required

Educator
Summary of Responsibilities: Interacting with children and adults through promoting role modeling and facilitated Museum exhibits and programs; Prepare and instruct lessons for tours, workshops, birthday parties, special events and floor demonstrations.

Required Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relations with staff, volunteers and the general public.
  • Ability to address the public and discuss problems, complaints and issues tactfully, courteously, and effectively.
  • Demonstrated use of good judgment.
  • Creativity and flexibility, with sensitivity to working with diverse audiences, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Enthusiasm for teaching and experience working with children and teachers.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend and safely lift up to 25 lbs.

Desired Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in early childhood, education or a related field.
  • Experience in a museum setting
  • Understanding of educational theories or techniques, age/grade characteristic, and/or child developmental stages
  • Bilingual speaker
  • Teaching experience with children

  • Part-Time, hourly
  • Weekends and some evening hours required

Visitor Services Representative
Summary of Responsibilities: Hub of information of Museum happenings and facilitates general visitor communication about the Museum and surrounding areas via telephone and in person; Provides high-quality service with ticket, membership and store purchases, as well as visit planning suggestions; Assist with store inventory; Assist with workshops, events and birthday parties.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • HS Diploma
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relations with staff, volunteers and the general public.
  • Ability to discuss problems, complaints and issues tactfully, courteously, and effectively.
  • Cash handling skills required
  • Demonstrated us of good judgement.
  • Creativity and flexibility, with sensitivity to working with diverse audiences, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule with some evenings and holidays.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend and safely lift up to 25 lbs.

Desired Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
